He further remarked that the Indonesian government, MUI, and other agencies and institutions would not waver in supporting Palestinian people in their struggle for independence from Israeli occupation forces.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ulema Council and Baznas (National Alms Agency) organize a Ramadan Safari entitled "Mending Palestine's Wounds" that involves 11 clerics from Palestine who will preach in nine provinces in Indonesia.
"The presence of Palestinian imams and religious figures here is expected to encourage us to further solidify our unity to support Palestine," MUI Deputy for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim remarked in Jakarta on Sunday.
The 11 Palestinian clerics will visit a plethora of mosques in nine provinces to preach and inform locals about the current situations in Palestine's Gaza Strip and West Bank amid Israeli aggression.
Hakim expressed hope that the planned visits of the clerics would draw more people to take part in supporting the Palestinian nation by donating.
"Hopefully, the visits of Palestinian sheikhs would result in more people of Indonesia donating for Palestine," he stated.
He further remarked that the Indonesian government, MUI, and other agencies and institutions would not waver in supporting Palestinian people in their struggle for independence from Israeli occupation forces.
"Let us hope that the Almighty God will help us with our holy mission in Ramadan month. Hopefully, help for Palestinians will soon arrive," he said.
Meanwhile, Baznas Deputy for Collection Rizaludin Kurniawan informed that each of the 11 clerics would visit around 60 mosques in nine provinces within 20 days.
He added that the clerics would pay a visit to three mosques every day, accompanied by interpreters and teams from Baznas.
"We expect each mosque to donate Rp25 million (US$1.6 thousand), so that Rp75 million (US$4.8 thousand) of donation will be received every day. The clerics will be visiting mosques until the 20th day of Ramadan," he pointed out.
In detail, the 11 Palestinian clerics will visit mosques in the provinces of Jakarta, Riau, Central Java, South Sulawesi, Banten, West Java, Riau Islands, East Java, South Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan.
