Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR) Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), on Wednesday (March 20), received a visit from representatives of the World Bank, discussing potential and ongoing cooperation schemes related to program to accelerate agrarian reform.

"We seek to ensure that our agrarian affairs and spatial planning implementation can stimulate economic growth. Of course, we prioritize implementation that is pro-environment and responsive to climate change," he noted in a statement received from his office here on Thursday.

AHY underlined that the Indonesian ATR Ministry and World Bank had been implementing cooperation programs, with the Agrarian Reform Acceleration Program (PPRA) being the flagship one.

The main objective of the program is to step up achievements in the targets set regarding land registration and administration for the sake of providing legal certainty over all parcels of land in the country.

To that end, the implementation of the PPRA involves guiding people to become collectors of agrarian data and promoting digital transformation.

According to AHY, the program has been running in 10 provinces in Indonesia, namely Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

World Bank's Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste Satu Kahkonen, for her part, highlighted that cooperation established between Indonesia and the global body had resulted in notable positive results.

She also extended support for the ATR Ministry's initiative to implement pro-environment agrarian affairs and spatial planning management, suggesting that the ministry prioritizes business processes that can support climate change handling.

Meanwhile, World Bank's land tenure specialist Willem Egbert van der Muur commended the ATR Ministry's performance in implementing PPRA. He also said that the World Bank is committed to solidifying cooperation to succeed ongoing as well as future programs with the ministry.
