"Since 2021, the PPPA Ministry has been endorsing the 'Dare to Speak Up' campaign to encourage (victims) to speak up," she said during a visit to Pattingalloang Shelter of Women and Children in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
Puspayoga cautioned that harassment and violence cases would continue to recur if victims hesitate to speak up.
The minister then underscored the need to erase the stigma around reporting domestic violence, which is often viewed as denouncing the dignity of the victims' families.
"In fact, the goal of our campaign is to help husbands, preventing them from making the same mistakes," she stressed.
In addition to promoting the "Dare to Speak Up" campaign, she added, the PPPA Ministry has also established a call center service for reporting violence that can be reached by dialing 129, or 081111129129 via WhatsApp.
She noted that the 129 call center number has been integrated with services available in 34 provinces to make it convenient for people to report cases of violence, adding that people are also protected by Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Crimes of Sexual Violence.
Puspayoga also extended her appreciation to Pattingalloang Shelter for taking care of women and children and encouraging them to collaborate to deal with various problems.
"We hope that this collaborative movement will inspire us in our efforts to fulfill the rights of children and provide protection for those belonging to vulnerable groups," she added.
