Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga made the statement at a press conference on the PPPA Ministry’s achievement in 2023 and resolution for 2024 in Jakarta on Friday (January 5).
Puspayoga stated that in the implementation of Law Number 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crime, her ministry is applying an upstream-downstream concept.
“Prevention, handling, protection, law enforcement, and empowerment. Those are our focus because our implementation function is related to the final referral service,” she remarked.
At the same event, the ministry’s Deputy for Gender Equality Lenny N. Rosalin noted that the ministry’s resolution for 2024 is improving the quality of life and increasing the role of women in development in various aspects.
The aspects include coordination and partnership, socio-cultural, legal, human resources, infrastructure, and institutional aspects.
She cited as an example that in the socio-cultural aspect, the efforts are carried out through gender equality campaigns targeting community institutions, religious leaders, customary leaders, community leaders, mass media, businesses, and the community.
Meanwhile, in the legal aspect, the efforts are made through the revitalization of the Law Awareness Program in the community and acceleration of the creation of legal instruments and bases for gender mainstreaming.
Furthermore, they include the acceleration of the creation of Ministerial Regulation on the Standardization of Women’s Empowerment Service Provider Institutions.
As for the human resources aspect, efforts are made through the improvement of women’s empowerment in politics, law, socio-cultural field, and economy.
“As well as improving the competence of human resources at central and regional levels in revitalizing gender mainstreaming in seven development processes,” Rosalin added.
