"We need to prepare transportation for Eid homecoming carefully and thoroughly. We also coordinate with fuel provision and other transportation services," he remarked during a working meeting for Eid homecoming readiness with Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday.
Sumadi noted that his side had put in all-out efforts to prepare for Eid homecoming transportation, including by conducting ramp checks of transportation vehicles as well as other facilities and infrastructure.
Moreover, the ministry has worked with cross-sector players by opening the Homecoming Post on April 13-18.
"In our coordination with the National Police Traffic Corps, they will inform us regarding the implementation of one-way and contra flow regulation," Sumadi remarked.
The ministry, along with Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and other institutions, had conducted a survey, in which as many as 193.6 million people were forecast to travel for the Eid homecoming.

The minister then called on the public to use mass transportation for homecoming. His side had prepared free homecoming transportation via ship, train, and bus.
The free homecoming by land will target 33 cities, with a target of 40,088 people and 900 motorbikes transported using 722 buses.
Meanwhile, the free homecoming program with train service is prepared for 28,196 people and 12,280 for motorbikes at 18 stations.
Lastly, the free homecoming program via ship is being prepared with a quota of 39,289 passengers and 4,800 two-wheeled vehicles, excluding electric motorbikes. Free homecoming via sea transportation involves the participation of private companies and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Sumadi also reminded the public to go home early or around D-5 of Eid since the peak of the homecoming traffic is predicted to occur on D-3 to D-2 of Eid which is projected to fall on April 10.
