"From 28 lanes, we added four lanes, so now, we have 32 lanes along with mobile readers to speed up toll payment," Marketing and Communication Department Head of Jasa Marga, Faiza Riani, stated in Cikampek, on Monday.
Mobile reader is a tool for payment transactions via electronic money (e-Money) or wireless toll cards, she remarked.
According to Riani, the flow of vehicles entering the Kalikangkung GT, Central Java, and heading to Jabodetabek was high and congested.
Meanwhile, the flow of vehicles from the direction of Bandung of the Cipularang Toll Road is also still high. Thus, the meeting of these two vehicular flows at KM 66 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road has an impact on traffic jams, Riani pointed out.
Hence, Jasa Marga has begun implementing a local one-way system from Jatingaleh KM 429 to GT Kalikangkung KM 414 Batang-Semarang, she added.
This is followed by the one-way system from GT Kalikangkung Batang Semarang KM 414 to GT Cikampek Utama KM 70.
"We operate 36 transaction lanes at this toll gate to accommodate travelers," Riani stated.
Furthermore, at KM 70 to KM 66, Jasa Marga implements two-lane and three-lane contraflow and another two-lane contraflow at KM 47 to KM 36.
"We hope the addition in toll road capacity lanes can reduce the congestion that occurs on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road," she noted.
As per monitoring from the field, the queue of vehicles entering the Cikampek Utama GT and heading to Jabodetabek appeared to be quite busy.
After entering the Cikampek Utama GT, vehicular movement slowed down due to the high traffic volume as a result of the meeting of two toll roads at KM 66 of the Trans Java Toll Road and the Cipularang Toll Road.
