Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated here on Friday that the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) event is ready to be held in Bali on May 18-25, 2024.

"Everything is ready (for holding the event) on May 18-25, 2024," Hadimuljono remarked here on Friday, adding that his side held a meeting regarding the event with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Friday.

At the meeting, Hadimuljono and Minister Hartarto discussed about the event's opening ceremony, water beautification, a cultural parade, as well as health and security measures.

Meanwhile, the PUPR Ministry will hold another meeting on May 10 for discussions on the forum itself.

"The summit is for the delegations from the levels of head of state and government to the ministerial level and also a high-level meeting. There are also political, regional, and thematic forums," he remarked.

The regional forum will discuss about cross-basin and interbasin water transfers, while thematic forums will focus on water supply, flood mitigation, and irrigation.

At the 10th WWF, Indonesia has also invited the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to discuss water management, and this will be led by House Speaker Puan Maharani.

"We are ready to hold the forum," Hadimuljono said.

Furthermore, the Indonesian government along with the World Water Council (WWC) prepared a series of forums leading to the summit event. The forums consist of three main processes, namely political, regional, and thematic.

The political forum will be held with the objective of increasing governance and policy in ensuring efficient and equitable water management and distribution.

Meanwhile, the regional forum will address transboundary water issues, encourage innovation exchanges, and develop common strategies for sustainable water use.

The thematic forum will discuss about water scarcity, climate change, and pollution impacts.
