"We are still waiting for other sports that are still being competed, such as table tennis, blind judo, and weightlifting," NPC Indonesia Deputy Secretary General Rima Ferdianto stated at the NPC Indonesia National Working Meeting here on Monday.
The number of athletes declared qualified for the Paris Paralympics is the same as the number of athletes who appeared at the last Paralympics Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Ferdianto is optimistic of more athletes still qualifying to compete in the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
"I hope there will be more qualified athletes from weightlifting, table tennis, and blind judo," he remarked.
NPC Indonesia has targeted to send at least 28 athletes to the Paris Paralympics.
Meanwhile, athletes who have qualified for the Paris Paralympics come from athletics, swimming, badminton, paracycling, archery, boccia, and shooting.
He said NPC Indonesia also set a target of one gold at the Paris Paralympics, namely from badminton.
Earlier, Indonesia won two golds in the badminton mixed doubles and women's doubles events at the Tokyo Paralympics. However, the women's doubles are no longer contested at this time.
"Hopefully, we can get gold again in the mixed doubles. Although women's doubles will not be contested in Paris, I hope Indonesia will have surprises from other sports," he stated.
He explained that athlete Saptoyoga from the athletics branch also has the potential to win gold.
Meanwhile, NPC Indonesia Chairman Senny Marbun stated that preparations for the Paris Paralympics had been started since January, and the training is centralized in Solo.
