Jakarta (ANTARA) - The presence of President-elect Prabowo Subianto in almost every honorary visit received by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is a sign of smooth government transition, according to an expert.

"Prabowo currently often accompanies Mr. Jokowi, as he is often invited in state activities. This indicated that the transition of government from Jokowi to Prabowo will run smoothly," political observer of Al Azhar University Indonesia Ujang Komarudin said in his statement here on Tuesday.

He added that both Jokowi and Prabowo are on the same frequency when it comes to upholding the principle of sustainability.

According to Komarudin, Jokowi's move to often take Prabowo along during state activities, such as for receiving guests from overseas, is an effort to introduce him as his successor.

This step is an affirmation that they will continue to build the nation in future, he said.

"I see it as something positive when Jokowi often brings Prabowo to meet the leaders of other countries. That makes them on the same frequency, and they seem to be together in building the nation now and in the future," he pointed out.

Prabowo has accompanied President Jokowi to receive honorary visits of several state leaders.

Most recently, he also accompanied Jokowi in welcoming the visit of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Monday (April 29).

On the occasion, PM Lee was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who will officially replace Lee on May 15.

Earlier, on Sunday (April 28), Prabowo also stated that Jokowi had helped him immensely and paid attention to him as he headed into the presidential-vice presidential inauguration on October 20, 2024.

"I have to say here, how much Mr. Joko Widodo helped me thoroughly. He is very thorough," he stated at a Nahdlatul Ulama organization gathering.
