Gobel explained that the DPR RI will host the Parliamentary Meeting of the 10th World Water Forum on May 19-21, 2024. The meeting will involve various parties and will take place at the bilateral, regional, and international levels.
"As the host of the meeting, DPR RI is focused on ensuring the agenda's success from the organization to the (agenda) substances to strengthen water management for the people's prosperity," Gobel noted as per the statement received here on Wednesday.
The deputy speaker's remarks were conveyed at the plenary session of the sitting period V of the 2023-2024 parliamentary session year at the Parliament Complex here on Tuesday (May 14).
Gobel expressed hope that parliament members across the world would attend and contribute their ideas, voice their aspirations, and offer inputs to realize comprehensive outputs from the international event.
Their participation will also ensure the success of the 10th World Water Forum, the deputy speaker added.
"With the ‘Mobilizing Parliamentary Action on Water for Shared Prosperity' theme, members of parliament throughout the world can partake in addressing water scarcity issues, bolster inter-parliamentary cooperation in expanding clean water access, and mobilize efforts in the water sector for global security and well-being," he remarked.
The 10th World Water Forum taking place in Bali on May 18-25, 2024, will focus on issues related to water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters.
Through the forum, Indonesia will propose the establishment of the Centre of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience, mainstreaming water management issues for developing and small island countries, a Compendium of Concrete Deliverables and Actions, and the designation of World Lake Day.
The Indonesian government also invited 43 ambassadors and four international organizations to partake in the agenda.
