During a press briefing on Monday, Deputy for Social Well-being Improvement, Nunung Nuryantono, outlined the key successful practices employed in Indonesia's fight against extreme poverty.
These include the convergence and complementary nature of extreme poverty alleviation programs and the use of the extreme poverty eradication acceleration target (P3KE) for effective implementation.
Indonesia will also share details of the Family Hope Program (PKH), the government food reserve, and other programs implemented to combat poverty.
Nuryantono remarked that the extreme poverty alleviation program has been on track, saying that it will be a valuable asset to be shared with G20 members at the upcoming summit.
"According to the latest global data on extreme poverty, the trend continues to decrease, and we hope this year's target will be achieved," he explained.
The ministry is actively involved in drafting the inception document, terms of reference and government framework, and statements of commitment for a global alliance against hunger and extreme poverty.
The eastern Indonesia region remains the main focus of the nationwide efforts to eradicate extreme poverty, Nuryantono added.
"Our extreme poverty rate by March 2024 was 1.12 percent. We hope the rate will be under 1 percent by next July. We are optimistic about that," he pointed out.
