He conveyed his appreciation during National Working Meeting III of the Indonesian District People's Representative Council Association (ADKASI) in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.
The voter turnout of 81 percent surpassed the target of 79.5 percent laid down in the 2020–2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
He expounded that during the presidential election, 164,227,475 valid votes were polled, with the voter turnout reaching 81.78 percent.
Meanwhile, during the election of members of the House of Representatives (DPR), 151,796,631 valid votes were polled.
"It is recorded that the voter turnout for political parties participating in the general elections stood at 81.42 percent. Meanwhile, the voter turnout for the Regional Representative Council (DPD) election reached 81.36 percent, or 138,913,462 valid votes," he said in a statement.
He then expressed the hope that the People's Representative Council (DPRD) in the regions and stakeholders will synergize and oversee the implementation of the simultaneous 2024 Regional Elections.
It is hoped that the elections, which will be held on November 27, 2024, will run in a smooth, safe, and orderly manner, he said.
Wetipo underscored that efforts to increase voter turnout in the regional elections can be carried out through several efforts, including disseminating information to the community.
Other efforts include involving the community in creating the electoral roll as well as providing technical guidance to participants and organizers of the regional elections.
"What is also important is building matureness and compliance of organizers, the candidates, political parties, and the community on the provisions of the elections in supporting the successful implementation of the simultaneous 2024 Regional Elections," he said.
