"Let us pray for the speedy post-surgery recovery for Mr Prabowo so he, God Willing, will be more ready to serve the Indonesian people,"Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) paid a visit to Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who recently underwent foot surgery at the Soedirman National Defense Centre Hospital (RSPPN) here.
Jokowi shared pictures of his time spent at the hospital with Prabowo on his official Instagram account, as observed here on Sunday evening.
"Praise be to God that the surgery for Mr Prabowo (Subianto) last week went smoothly. The medical treatment for Mr Prabowo's past injuries while in military service was successfully performed by doctors and nurses' team at RSPPN Soedirman," the president stated.
The president expressed hope that Prabowo would soon recover from his recent surgery.
"Let us pray for the speedy post-surgery recovery for Mr Prabowo so he, God Willing, will be more ready to serve the Indonesian people," Jokowi remarked.
The photographs shared by the president's official account showed Prabowo welcoming Jokowi while arriving at his hospital room. Prabowo was seen smiling while conversing with Jokowi.
Also seen accompanying them were Prabowo's son, Didit Hediprasetyo, and adjutant Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Meanwhile, through his official Instagram account, Prabowo informed that his recent surgery was conducted to treat his past injuries on the left foot due to parachuting accidents while in service of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) in the 1980s.
Although the surgery took place last week, he spoke of the need to remain hospitalized for post-surgery treatment and recovery this week.
Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the president's support, including personally paying a visit.
"I thank President Joko Widodo for his support and prayers," the president-elect remarked.
