"We can see that many creative economy MSMEs have been developing here," he remarked while attending the Flowers and Fruits Festival 2024 at Mejuah-juah Park, Berastagi Sub-district, on Friday (July 5).
Uno remarked that MSME actors participating in the national festival were creatively showcasing the finest products on offer, such as the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination, of which Karo is a part.
"I have tasted the Karo coffee, and its flavor is comparable to international coffees," he remarked.
The minister further noted that the progress made by MSMEs in Karo is also evidenced by the enthusiasm of 250 villages from 17 sub-districts in offering their products at the festival that also features a parade of decorative cars.
Bearing that in mind, he deemed it necessary to further enhance the quality of the national festival that is included in the Karisma Event Nusantara program, including by involving players in the processing industry.
Uno then called on all MSME actors in Karo to continue to make progress, work in synergy, and move fast to tap into the district's potential and create job opportunities with the end goal of actualizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
Meanwhile, Karo District Head Cory Sriwati Sebayang said she is confident about Uno's visit to Karo bringing progress to the district's tourism sector.
"The participation of around 160 MSMEs here will surely boost the people's income," she added.
A range of MSME products are being showcased at the national event, such as snacks, decorative lamps, wooden handicrafts, and various local agricultural products.
The Karo district government is targeting to draw in up to 90 thousand tourists to the festival being held on July 4-6.
