Head of the sub-group on children rights' fulfillment under the Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control Office, Yunita Siska Diniati, said here on Thursday that Jakarta does not yet have a special regulation on child-friendly cities/districts.
She made the remarks during an online discussion on "Jakarta Toward Becoming Child-Friendly Global City." The event was held by the Jakarta Regional Financial Management Agency.
She noted that for children's protection and rights fulfillment, the provincial government has so far relied solely on the Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2011 concerning the Protection of Women and Children from Violence.
"However, we will prepare an academic manuscript for the Regulation in the third quarter of this year. Hopefully, it can be included in the 2025 Regional Regulation Formation Program," she informed.
Diniati said that Presidential Regulation Number 25 of 2021 concerning Child-Friendly Districts/Cities describes it as a development system that guarantees the fulfillment of children's rights and protection.

To realize this, at least 24 indicators need to be met and these are divided into five clusters.
The five clusters are: civil rights and freedoms; family environment and alternative care; basic health and welfare; education, children's use of leisure time, and cultural activities; and special protection for children.
Related to child-friendly cities institution, there is the Governor's Decree Number 1426 of 2019 concerning the Task Force for the Child-Friendly City.
This means that all Regional Apparatus Work Units in Jakarta have their roles in realizing child-friendly cities, Diniati said.
Moreover, there is a provincial decree on child-friendly companies, which seeks to ensure that the business world is more committed to collaborating with the government to realize a child-friendly city.
