Banyuwangi, East Java (ANTARA) - The Osing Traditional Tourism Village in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, is worthy of being promoted to foreign tourists, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, has said.

"This is a part of our tourism, which can be promoted to the international market, such as the World Tourism Organization or UN Tourism," he added during a visit to the tourism village on Saturday.

The Osing Traditional Tourism Village in Kemiren village, Glagah sub-district, ranked among the top 50 best tourist villages at the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI).

The village competed with 6,016 tourist villages in Indonesia for the award. The Osing Tribe is an indigenous tribe from Banyuwangi, whose members mostly reside in Kemiren village.

During his visit, Uno witnessed the community's traditional activities, including drying mattresses, barong ider bumi, and tumpeng sewu.

"I am very happy to be able to visit one of the 6,016 tourist villages in Indonesia. This is a very different experience and I can say, my experience is world-class tourism," the minister said.

He highlighted that Osing Traditional Tourism Village is a complete destination with natural beauty, charming art, and culture that has been maintained from generation to generation.

"I congratulate and declare the Osing Traditional Tourism Village as the best tourist village in Indonesia 2024," Uno added.

Meanwhile, the head of Banyuwangi district, Ipuk Fiestiandani, stated that the regional government is continuing to support the development of villages in Banyuwangi, based on their potential.

"For example, Kemiren village is rich in culture and tradition. Therefore, we support this village with various activities that are routinely held at the Banyuwangi Festival. Starting from the coffee festival, Tumpeng Sewu, and Barong Ider Bumi. This solely aims to support the residents' economy as well," she informed.

The recognition given to Kemiren village is expected to encourage other tourism villages in Banyuwangi to improve their quality.
