Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) will hold the "Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism and SME Expo" (JITEX) on August 7-11, 2024.

JITEX 2024, organized in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants (Hippindo), will be located at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

Head of the Jakarta PPKUKM Office, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, stated in a press conference here on Wednesday that Jakarta has the potential to become a global driver of economic growth.

She stated that given the potential, the city's development towards being a main destination for business and tourism should be encouraged.

This year's JITEX is a milestone in the efforts to enhance Jakarta's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the global stage.

"This exhibition will showcase the innovation and quality of our local products, which will drive international partnerships and business growth," Allo stated.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta provincial government and the regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) continue to accelerate the integration of the national economy into the world economy network.

This is done to support the competition of Jakarta in being one of the global cities in the world.

Allo said that Jakarta has vast potential that has yet to be touched. However, the JITEX event, which will showcase investment, local product innovations, and business matching, will attract several investors and buyers.

"Jakarta has a lot of assets that can be developed. There are many sleeping assets that the provincial government has not yet been able to reach, explore, and see what can be done," she remarked.

On the other hand, Chairman of Hippindo, concurrently Chairman of the Asian Tourism, Trade and Economy Council (ATEC), Budihardjo Iduansjah, stated that JITEX is tangible evidence of Jakarta's potential as a global business center.

"This activity is a real manifestation to strengthen domestic trade. One of the steps is through the Shopping in Indonesia Movement," he remarked.
