Health promotion and prevention are the most important aspects of healthcare, ensuring everyone stays healthy rather than just focusing on curing illnesses. Sadikin said people need initiative, knowledge, and a willingness to stay healthy.
"It is a very noble role of more than 32,000 members of Saka Bhakti Husada to actively guide people so they realize, comprehend, and adopt a healthy lifestyle to ensure they and their families do not fall sick," he remarked in a statement on Thursday.
Sadikin delivered the statement at the 39th Saka Bhakti Husada Anniversary on Wednesday, July 17.
Saka Bhakti Husada is one of the several units of Pramuka (Scout), which specifically aims to develop knowledge, guide people, expand experiences, and offer opportunities to people to dedicate themselves to the field of health. It was first established on July 17, 1985.
Sadikin said that Saka Bhakti Husada can improve national development in the field of health through creative and innovative activities and breakthroughs and push for efforts to improve public health. With six focuses and 32 skills, he expects SBH to consistently help people become healthier.
He underscored the need for people to imbibe habits such as eating healthy foods regularly and engaging in physical activities for at least 30 minutes. He also noted that adults should regularly check their health conditions, such as their blood pressure, triglyceride, and blood sugar levels.
"I believe that fellows can motivate the public, starting from the smallest: our family, friends, and relatives," he said. "I believe that in Indonesia's future, its people can live much healthier and longer and be more productive."
