Productive use of cash waqf is expected to support people’s welfare, including alleviating poverty and creating jobs. Therefore, Amin urged widespread adoption of the cash waqf movement at the national and regional levels.
“Currently, we encourage not only national waqf but also provincial waqf movements. This has started in Riau and West Sumatra,” he said during a meeting with the Indonesian Waqf Agency (BWI) in Jakarta on the same day.
He emphasized that the BWI must manage waqf professionally, reminding the agency to prioritize security in managing waqf funds.
Amin also highlighted the need for the BWI to optimize waqf management. With government support and community involvement, national waqf is expected to provide many benefits to people.
"What we need now is a strategy to maximize waqf collection and management," he explained.
During the meeting, BWI head Kamaruddin Amin said that cash waqf will be one of the agency's priority programs.
The BWI is currently designing various programs to encourage community involvement in the cash waqf movement so that the benefits can be more impactful in achieving equal welfare.
