Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka is planning to push up oil production (lifting) as well as advance the contribution of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to boost the national economy.

According to Gibran, he has often spoken about oil lifting and the downstreaming of copper, nickel, and bauxite--which have been proven to increase state revenue--during his presidential campaign and debates.

He also discussed them with Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, particularly improving regulations and licensing, during a visit to the Investment Ministry in Jakarta on Monday.

"There must be improvements; earlier, I talked about regulatory issues and so on, there are many things that need to be boosted," Gibran said.

Meanwhile, Minister Lahadalia informed that the visit of the Vice President-elect was aimed at discussing the digital economy, downstreaming of mining products, and acceleration of investment services in Indonesia.

He also highlighted the need to improve investment regulations in Indonesia and improve the one-stop business licensing service system through the Online Single Submission (OSS).

"I told Mas Gibran that our OSS must be improved properly, although the OSS is already running well," he said.

According to the minister, investment realization in the first half of 2024 stood at Rp829.9 trillion (USD1 = around Rp16,273), with worker absorption pegged at 1,225,042.

During the period, domestic investment was recorded at Rp408.2 trillion and brought about higher worker absorption of 738,202.

Meanwhile, foreign investment realization reached Rp421.7 trillion with worker absorption touching 486,840.
