Prabowo will be inaugurated on October 20 as President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 period.
Prabowo conveyed his plan to Pandjaitan when the two attended a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (August 5).
"He said he would announce his cabinet on October 21 followed by a cabinet meeting on October 23," Pandjaitan revealed when met on Tuesday.
He is optimistic that Prabowo would immediately get to work on his duty, including resolving problems and challenges currently being faced, such as the palm oil plantation database and audits.
"Our country is very abundant. I am glad that our president-elect understands this advantage," the minister stated.
Pandjaitan is also optimistic that the transition from the administration of President Joko Widodo-Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to President-elect Prabowo Subianto-Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka would run smoothly.
President Widodo had directly instructed his staff to help the transition run smoothly, so the new administration does not need to start from scratch.
"I think we must continue to carry this culture so the next administration does not have to start from scratch," Pandjaitan remarked.
He also acknowledged that communication between ministers under President Widodo's leadership and Prabowo's transition team went quite well.
"Everything is shared. It is only for the good of this country," he stated.
Subianto and Raka were determined by the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidate pair on April 24, 2024. The two are scheduled to be inaugurated as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period on October 20, 2024.
