Mataram (ANTARA) - The body of a male Indonesian migrant worker, shot dead in Malaysia, arrived in his village in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and was immediately buried on Friday.

The East Lombok Manpower and Transmigration Office Head, M. Hairi, stated that the victim had worked illegally in Malaysia. His body was evacuated by the Indonesian government at the family's request.

On July 30, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kuching, Malaysia, received a report that the worker had been shot dead on a palm oil plantation in Miri, Sarawak.

Consul General R. Sigit Witjaksono told ANTARA Kuala Lumpur on Friday that the body had recently undergone an autopsy by local police on August 1. He said that the police and the KJRI are still monitoring the case.

In a media statement, Miri Regional Police Chief Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a report on July 29 about the discovery of a male body on a private palm oil plantation in the city.

The local police are still searching for suspects, witnesses, and gathering statements related to the incident, as well as evidence to assist the investigation.
