Jakarta (ANTARA) - Participants of the procession to transport the Heirloom Red-and-White Flag replica and the Indonesian Independence Proclamation manuscript copy from Jakarta to Indonesia's new capital Nusantara were thrilled and honored by their role in the event.

According to the Presidential Secretariat statement, the four former personnel of the Heirloom Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibraka) in the procession were Kachina Ozora, Keyla Purnama, Lilly Wenda, and Naila Sinapoy. They were part of Paskibraka's 2023 batch.

"I am immensely proud and thankful for becoming a part of the procession to transport the Red-and-White Flag from the National Monument (in Jakarta) to Nusantara," Kachina Ozora, who carried the national flag during the procession, stated.

Ozora, who hailed from Central Kalimantan, felt a huge sense of responsibility while holding the Heirloom Flag on her lap during its transportation from the National Monument to Halim Perdanakusuma Air Field in East Jakarta to Nusantara.

Ozora viewed her role on the day as more than performing in a symbolic procession.

"It shows the commitment from the younger generation to bring Indonesia into a brighter, stronger, and a more united future," Ozora stated.

Meanwhile, Keyla Purnama of South Sumatra viewed participating in the procession as her greatest achievement as a former member of Paskibraka. She was tasked with the proper handling of the Independence Proclamation Text manuscript copy during the procession.

"My duty also reflects a responsibility to ensure that the spirit of our heroes will continue living and beating in every step of Indonesia's younger generation," Purnama remarked.

Lilly Wenda, who represented Highland Papua last year, said she is glad to be the first person to deliver the Heirloom Flag to Indonesia's new capital. She received the flag from President Joko Widodo during the last Independence Day Flag-Raising Ceremony.

Wenda said that she believed her role reflected the Papua youth as equal to their counterparts in other regions striving to develop Indonesia.

Moreover, Naila Sinapoy highlighted her historical role in the procession, especially as this is the only year the Independence Day ceremony will take place both in Jakarta and Nusantara.
