Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung District, Bali, arrested a Russian foreign national suspected of planting and cultivating marijuana.

"The Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team searched his belongings and found 10.75 grams of marijuana," Head of the Bali Provincial Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, stated on Thursday.

According to Pasaribu, the Russian national, with the initials AF, was arrested following a public complaint lodged over the behavior of the 34-year-old man in Cengiling Village, Jimbaran, Badung District, infamous for often causing trouble.

Pasaribu remarked that this ultimately led to AF's arrest on Wednesday by the Ngurah Rai Immigration officers and the South Kuta Police.

From the immigration inspection, she stated that AF had entered Indonesia on September 24, 2021. Hence, in addition to his involvement in a narcotics case, he violated the residence permit regulations by overstaying in Indonesia.

Pasaribu said AF entered Indonesia with a visit permit for 60 days, with no extension of the residence permit.

From the arrest, officers confiscated AF's Russian passport, 16 bank cards, a savings book in his name, a smoking device or bong, and a box of marijuana planting media as evidence.

Based on intelligence information gathered by the police, AF is suspected of cultivating marijuana.

However, Pasaribu remarked that officers are still working on these findings through intensive examination.

She conveyed that AF is temporarily placed in the detention room at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and will be handed over to police officers for questioning regarding the criminal case.

When presented at a press conference in front of the media crew, AF rebelled and tried to speak up several times during the press conference.

"I want to tell a story," he shouted as he was moved out of the room by immigration officers.
