Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officiated the new cancer service building belonging to the National Cancer Center of the Dharmais Cancer Hospital, namely the Maternal and Child Cancer Service Building.

"This afternoon, I inaugurate the Maternal and Child Cancer Service Building of the Dharmais Cancer Hospital," the president noted in his remarks on Friday.

Earlier, the head of state reviewed the new building's readiness. He praised the sophisticated design of the building, considered to be at par with a five-star hotel.

"The building is neat, the design is good, and the lights are also bright. I usually go to hospitals, and their lighting is dim. The equipment is also sophisticated. Everything is digital," he remarked.

Jokowi stated that construction of the building started in 2022 through financial support from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

"The budget for the building is Rp427 billion (USD26 million), and the hospital equipment is worth Rp313 billion (USD19 million) plus Rp37 billion (USD2 million) for human resources," he explained.

The president said he was not concerned over the large budget spent for the hospital building as long as the development is right on target.

In his remarks, Jokowi also lauded the construction of the Maternal and Child Health Service Building of Sardjito Hospital in Yogyakarta and the Maternal and Child Health Service Building of Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung, West Java, which were inaugurated on August 28 and August 29 respectively.

To that end, the president reiterated that if the budget is used on target, then the results will not be disappointing.

"If the money is used properly, it will be like this. If the money is not used properly, it can be seen from the building quality," he emphasized.

The inauguration of the Maternal and Child Cancer Service Building of Dharmais Cancer Hospital was marked by the president hitting the siren button and signing the inscription.
