Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has emphasized the essential role of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) in maintaining national stability to support sustainable development amid the ongoing global turmoil.

"You can look it up on Google to see the conditions in Europe, America, and several African countries. It is not easy. So far, 96 countries had to ask for assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)," he highlighted at the Nusantara State Palace here on Tuesday.

He made the remarks while addressing TNI and Polri officials at the State Palace in national capital city (IKN) Nusantara, which was followed online on the Presidential Secretariat's social media channel.

At the gathering, the Head of State expressed his concern about the current global situation, which is full of uncertainty.

According to Widodo, Indonesia urgently needs stability to support national growth and sustainable development.

He also mentioned some countries, such as those in the Middle East, that are facing conflict and experiencing difficulties in economic development.

He also stressed that maintaining stability requires the active role of the TNI and Polri, who carry out their duty professionally and are trusted by the public.

Global uncertainty has become even more complex due to heated geopolitical tensions, trade wars, and arms race, he observed.

"Today's challenges are very complex. On a global scale, they are difficult to solve and very hard to predict," he said.

In addition, President Widodo noted that economic calculations, including oil price estimations for next year, are becoming increasingly challenging in the current global situation.

Therefore, focusing on national stability is vital to face global challenges and ensure sustainable development in Indonesia, he emphasized.
