"We appreciate and support the founding and operations of the Directorate of Crime Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking of Polri's Bareskrim," the ministry's secretary Titi Eko Rahayu remarked when contacted from Jakarta on Monday.
Rahayu stated that the presence of the new investigative unit is expected to facilitate police officers to take swift actions in cases of violence involving women and children and prioritize the interests and well-being of the victims.
"We hope that cases of violence against women and children would be handled in a quicker manner under one comprehensive command that provides the exact services needed. Hopefully, the officers assigned to such cases are those genuinely caring for women's and children's interests," she stated.
