Paser, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) advised beneficiaries of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) program to call on President-elect Prabowo Subianto to continue the rice aid program.

The president made this statement to the public as he would retire on October 20, 2024, and the government would be continued by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Later, when you meet Mr. Prabowo, request him to continue the assistance,” President Jokowi remarked while handing over rice assistance in Paser District, East Kalimantan, on Thursday.

On that occasion, he also inspected the district's State Logistics Agency (Bulog) warehouse.

As he will soon retire as head of state, on that occasion, Jokowi extended his apologies to the people for any mistakes and shortcomings in formulating policies that impacted the public during his leadership term.

"On this good occasion, I (want to say) that I am an imperfect human being, full of weakness and stupidity, and often make mistakes. I seek your forgiveness as much as possible if there are mistakes and shortcomings in making policies for the people," the president stated.

The president also sought input from the public on the rice assistance distributed through the BPNT program.

In the program, each beneficiary receives 10 kilograms of rice.

Jokowi said that the recipients have received the rice package regularly every month since January 2024.

"Have you accepted the 10 kg of rice? Did you receive them in January, February, March?” he said.

The public then responded enthusiastically and hoped for more assistance the next month.

Before concluding his visit, the president gave two bicycles to two people who successfully recited the five precepts of Pancasila.
