Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Hidayat Nur Wahid, expressed confidence that President-elect Prabowo Subianto will continue to support Palestine's struggle for independence.

He stated that Indonesia's unwavering support for Palestine aligns with the Constitution, which emphasizes the right of all nations to independence and opposes colonialism.

"Of course, Mr. Prabowo, as President-elect, will undoubtedly uphold the Constitution. Indonesia will remain at the forefront in advocating for Palestinian independence," Wahid said after a discussion on "Indonesia's Strategic and Tactical Steps for Gaza" in Jakarta on Friday.

He added that Prabowo has already demonstrated concern for Palestinian independence by sending humanitarian aid through the Indonesian Air Force and providing financial assistance.

Wahid also noted that the current global situation is conducive to rallying other nations to join the fight for the Palestinian cause.

He welcomed similar initiatives from community organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working to support Palestinians in their struggle, including actions taken by Adara Relief International.

Adara has made several recommendations concerning the current situation in Palestine under Israeli occupation.

Together with the Indonesian Ulema Council, the legislature, and other NGOs, Adara has called on the government to send peacekeeping troops to the Gaza Strip.

"We urge the Indonesian government to deploy peacekeeping troops to the conflict zone, especially in Gaza," said Adara Relief International CEO Maryam Rachmayani.

She emphasized that the presence of peacekeeping troops is crucial for upholding humanitarian values, protecting Indonesian humanitarian aid assets, and ensuring the safety of Indonesian aid workers in Gaza.

Adara has also urged the government to prioritize the Palestinian issue during the first 100 days of Prabowo Subianto's presidency.

"The aim is to achieve a ceasefire and a permanent end to the genocide in Palestine," she pointed out.
