Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, emphasized the need for a careful selection process for investment in Indonesia's new capital, Nusantara, located in East Kalimantan, to assess the intentions of potential investors.

"Actually, there are many investors interested in investing. However, they need to be screened to determine whether they are serious. If they are serious, then they will be given the opportunity," Jokowi told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He explained that while the government is open to investment proposals, a selection process is in place to ensure the right investors are chosen.

"We do conduct a selection process, so not everyone can invest immediately. Investment is allowed after passing this process," Jokowi noted.

According to the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN), the current investment in Nusantara stands at Rp58.4 trillion (around US$3.73 billion).

Jokowi expressed optimism that the government's target of Rp100 trillion in investment for Nusantara would be achieved.

The Indonesian government is opening up all investment sectors, particularly those supporting logistics in Nusantara.
