Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry is seeking to identify products that can help push Indonesia's economic growth to the 8 percent target set by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said here on Tuesday that he will soon appoint supervisors within the ministry to identify products with the highest competitive and comparative advantage that can help advance the national economy.

He added that each industrial sector in the country must identify products that have the potential to grow above 8 percent so that his ministry can provide stimulus to bolster those sectors.

"We will also pay attention to those whose growth is below 8 percent. For those whose growth has reached 8 percent, we will strengthen them," he informed.

In addition, he said that his ministry will identify sectors that have significantly high production costs so that it can provide mitigation to encourage industry players to carry out more efficient production processes.

The minister explained that through the identification of products that have good development potential, the Ministry of Industry could also help realize President Prabowo's goal of achieving energy security and food self-sufficiency.

"His priority work (program) is showing that Indonesia has food security and energy security. This is what we are trying to formulate in the context of manufacturing," Kartasasmita said.

As part of their Asta Cita vision and missions, President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are seeking to make Indonesia a food and energy self-sufficient country.

The President is also targeting to make Indonesia an industrialized country so that the economic growth target of above 8 percent can be achieved.
