The exhibition, called the FHUI Alumni Art Collector's Show, is held on October 25-30, 2024, at D'Gallerie, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta.
The Youth Pledge Day and the founding of legal education in Indonesia are celebrated every October 28.
"The works exhibited here are not only about aesthetics but also the deep relationship between collectors and their artwork collection," Dean of FHUI Parulian Paidi Aritonang said in a statement remarked here on Sunday.
Aritonang said the exhibition is not intended for commercial purposes but to become a place for appreciation for artworks.
"This exhibition is a pro-bono activity that displays the FHUI alumni art collectors' collection, which talks about life values, life experiences, and aspirations of the collectors," he said.
According to him, the event can become a gathering place for art lovers in Indonesia.
He assessed that the process of collecting works of art is rich in meaning, not just merely about collecting objects.
In collecting artworks, he explained, collectors want to create order, find relationships between art objects, and build a narrative that can help people understand the world.
The exhibition involved as many as 23 art collectors, and a total of 30 two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks were presented there.
One of them is the "Bunga Sepatu" painting owned by the Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Mohammad Eddy Dwiyanto Soeparno.
Soeparno explained that the painting "Bunga Sepatu" was created in 1919 by the legendary painter and curator, Dullah. He inherited the painting from his parents.
"Art can be learned and exists within us, and we can develop it," Soeparno said.
