Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the ministers in the Red and White Cabinet to formulate quick-win programs for their first 100 days of service, according to Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni.

"Mr. President will summon each minister to identify viable quick-win measures to deal with matters in the short term," he told reporters during a visit to Rumpin Nursery in Bogor district, West Java, on Monday.

Though he did not divulge any details about the programs, Antoni assured that the ministers will soon make their short-term programs public through the media once the formulation process is complete.

On the occasion, the minister also described his visit to the nursery as a follow-up to the head of state's instruction that his Cabinet members serve the nation by directly visiting and inspecting places instead of merely working from their offices.

Drawing attention to the forestry sector, Antoni said that President Prabowo has asked his ministry to take a balanced approach to maintain forest cover and simultaneously elevate people's living standards.

To achieve that end, the minister will push for intensifying the cultivation of plants that can generate non-timber forest products, such as tropical fruits.

"In addition to helping make Indonesia greener as the lungs of the world, this (initiative) is also expected to generate high profits for residents. Successful cultivation of durians, oranges, and jackfruits will surely benefit the people," he explained.

Antoni also assured that the Ministry of Forestry will provide seeds of trees with strong roots that can help rehabilitate watersheds and lands, with the end goal of preventing disasters, such as landslides and erosion.
