Indonesian Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat marked the 96th Youth Pledge Day by emphasizing the crucial role of young people as pillars of the Indonesian nation.
As cited from a post uploaded on his Instagram account on Tuesday in Jakarta, the Indonesian badminton legend believes that the development of the nation is inseparable from the role played by its young talents.
"Youths are the pillars of the nation, standing as timeless power," he noted.
The gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics emphasized the need for people to always stay true to the values embedded in the Youth Pledge, which was echoed for the first time on October 28, 1928, to bring progress to the country.
"The 96th anniversary of the Youth Pledge serves as a milestone that reminds us all of the power of unity and the spirit of tenacity," Hidayat affirmed.

He also called on the people to carry on the dreams of the nation's founding fathers by synchronizing wills and minds for an even better Indonesia.
Earlier, during the 2024 Youth Pledge Day commemorative event at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, on Monday (October 28), Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo conveyed messages from President Prabowo Subianto to Indonesian youths.
"I keep Mr. Prabowo's messages to people from younger generations in mind. He said that you, youngsters, must have aspirations, from which you should identify the desires lying in your heart," he remarked.
The 34-year-old minister also called on Indonesian youths to approach his office without hesitation to voice their aspirations.
He underscored that the Ministry of Youth and Sports serves as a home for youngsters and is open to all young talents of Indonesia.
