This was conveyed by head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, at a press conference after President Prabowo met with members of his Cabinet at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
"The President gave a direction to review and make subsidies more accurate; accurate in terms of the beneficiaries and allocations," he informed.
President Prabowo also tasked Statistics Indonesia (BPS) with carrying out the synchronization of beneficiary data of various ministries.
Nasbi further said that the President instructed ministries and heads of agencies to review the quantum of subsidies and synchronize the data within two weeks.
Prabowo's order regarding accurate subsidies is part of his commitment as President, which he highlighted in his inaugural speech at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on October 20, 2024.
He emphasized that the Indonesian government will be brave in examining and taking action regarding the distribution of assistance and subsidies to make them more targeted.
"The assistance must not fail to reach those who need it," he stressed.
During the previous government's term, data on the beneficiaries of government assistance was integrated into the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
