The minister made the statement during a meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Promotive efforts are endeavors to improve health through promotion, such as providing education on health, consumption of nutritious food, and exercising regularly.
Meanwhile, preventive efforts entail measures to prevent or reduce the risk of diseases, such as through regular health checkups and early detection of diseases.
In this regard, Sadikin invited members of the DPR, especially Commission IX, to contribute to disseminating information to the community regarding the importance of health screening.
He noted that health screening can be way more effective in curbing the increasing health costs for curative efforts or treatment.
The Ministry of Health has planned to massively provide health screening notifications to the public.
The ministry's Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Health Devices Lucia Rizka Andalucia stated in Kendal, Central Java, on Tuesday (October 22) that health screening notifications would be sent on people's birthdays.
"Every citizen will receive a notification on their birthday," she remarked.
The notifications that will be sent to people's mobile phones will essentially ask them to undergo health screening at the nearest health service facility.
She noted that the health screening is free of charge, as the government will cover it.
Andalucia affirmed that the Ministry of Health, through health service facilities, will increase health screening for the community, both for degenerative and infectious diseases.
