He also revealed the plan for Diks, who is currently representing Denmark's FC Copenhagen, taking his oath of citizenship on Friday, saying President Prabowo Subianto has issued a decree approving the naturalization.
"We would like to thank Mr. President Prabowo Subianto for his unwavering support for our national team in its journey toward becoming a world-class squad," he remarked.
Thohir also praised the House of Representatives (DPR) for advancing the cause by approving the naturalization of Diks during its 6th plenary meeting on Tuesday.
Explaining the significance of Diks' naturalization, he said that the footballer's eligibility to play for Indonesia has become even more vital for the squad depth of the national team following Mees Hilgers, also a naturalized Indonesian-Dutch center back, suffering a hamstring injury.
"We are currently dealing with administrative matters to see whether or not Kevin Diks will be available for the clash with Japan," he added.
The Garuda Squad is scheduled to play two crucial home matches in the contest for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Indonesia is set to take on Japan on November 15, 2024, before hosting Saudi Arabia four days later.
Team Indonesia, managed by coach Shin Tae-yong, ranks fifth in Group C in the third round of the Asian zone qualifiers, with three points earned from a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia, a goalless match against Australia, and a stalemate of 2-2 against Bahrain.
Indonesia's most recent match, held on October 15, was a 1-2 away defeat to China.
