"Prabowo has just been inaugurated (as president), and it is important to communicate (with other countries) through state visits to build bilateral relations," Mustopa remarked when met here on Saturday.
He underscored the need for Indonesia to intensify bilateral relations with foreign countries to strengthen the country's position in world politics.
In addition, fostering sound relations with other countries can support Indonesia's efforts to strengthen its defense and security and, most importantly, boost foreign investment.
"We need investment and assistance from overseas as well," he remarked.
President Prabowo Subianto has begun his five-nation tour to China, the United States, Peru, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.
The head of state departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Friday (November 8), at around 10:25 a.m. local time, aboard the Indonesian Presidential aircraft. He started his state visit agenda with China.
During his first state visit to Beijing, Prabowo was scheduled to meet President of China Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji.
Prabowo will continue his journey to the United States to meet President Joe Biden.
Following the two bilateral meetings, Prabowo will attend the APEC Summit in Lima, Peru, and the G20 Summit in Brazil.
Prabowo will also meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and visit several countries in the Middle East.
These overseas visits by Prabowo reflect Indonesia's commitment to respecting, maintaining, and strengthening sound diplomatic relations with these countries.
