This was conveyed by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto during a press conference at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Monday.
"There will be PRCPB forces in every district military command, and in case of regional disasters, the troops will move quickly," Subiyanto said.
To handle the impact of Mt. Lewotobi Laki-Laki's eruption in East Nusa Tenggara, he said that the TNI has set up a public kitchen and deployed medical personnel to help victims.
The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reported that as of Monday, five other volcanoes are on standby status.
They are Mt. Awu in North Sulawesi, Mt. Ibu in Maluku, Mt. Iya in East Nusa Tenggara, Mt. Marapi in West Sumatra, and Mt. Merapi on the border of Central Java and Yogyakarta.
Mt. Lewotobi Laki-Laki has erupted several times since last week, forcing 12,200 residents to evacuate, with nine dead and three injured.
General Subiyanto also emphasized that he will continue strengthening the TNI's ability to deal with disasters.
"In the future, the TNI will continue to strengthen its capabilities and operations in disaster mitigation, as well as establish cooperation with friendly countries in Southeast Asia, prioritizing the principles of professionalism, responsiveness, integration, modernity, and adaptability," he stated.
