The collaboration was marked by the inking of a memorandum of understanding between Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Minister Yandri Susanto and Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono here on Monday.
"Insha Allah (God willing), the collaboration between the two ministers will bring the Republic of Indonesia to greater progress," he remarked.
Susanto explained that through collaboration, the two ministries will help villages identify their potential in marine and fisheries so that they can be optimized to realize food self-sufficiency.
Moreover, the collaboration aims to encourage villages to become food suppliers in the government's Free Nutritious Meals program.
According to Susanto, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries can help realize such aspects by assisting, training, and empowering communities in managing their marine and fisheries potential.

He affirmed that Indonesia can thus have villages with myriad potentials, for instance, those that supply tilapia fish and shrimp.
On the same occasion, Minister Trenggono noted that through the collaboration, the two ministries will help realize the one village, one product goal that encourages each village to present a flagship product, especially related to the marine and fishery sectors.
Furthermore, he expressed optimism that the collaboration would improve the welfare of village communities.
Achieving food self-sufficiency is one of the goals pursued by the Indonesian government under the presidency of Prabowo Subianto.
While delivering his inaugural address on Sunday (October 20), the president expressed optimism that Indonesia would achieve food self-sufficiency in four to five years.
