Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs provided logistical assistance in response to the landslide incident in Cianjur District, West Java Province.

In a written statement here on Tuesday, the ministry explained that very high rainfall caused landslides in Cianjur District on November 22-25, impacting residents of Sukaraja Village in Kadupandak Sub-District.

"For severely damaged houses, provision of assistance is in the process of assessment. Data and aid collection are also underway," Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono stated.

Priyono drew attention to severe structural damage to 18 houses and a mosque, with one more residence in a precarious condition. Meanwhile, 21 families or 60 people were evacuated.

Priyono explained that his ministry had coordinated with the Social Service and the Cianjur District disaster preparedness officers in evacuating residents and continued to coordinate and collect data related to the impact of the disaster.

"There are places of worship that were also affected by the disaster. Hence, all of the data will be collected while awaiting the assessment for the process of submitting a request for home repair assistance," he remarked.

He affirmed that the ministry also provided logistical assistance worth more than Rp327 million, or about USD20.5 thousand.

The assistance comprised 400 packages of ready-to-eat food, 100 packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, and 200 food packages for children.

Other forms of assistance included 200 blankets, 100 roll-up tents, four multi-purpose tents, 10 family tents, 50 family kit packages, and 50 children’s essential care packages.
