In a statement released by his ministry on Wednesday, he said that in the previous regulation, the village fund allocation for food security was set at a maximum of 20 percent.
He conveyed this during the National Police's Technical Working Meeting on the Food Security Program in Cianjur, West Java, on Wednesday.
He expressed the hope that with the allocation, all villages will make serious efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency, in line with the vision of President Prabowo Subianto.
Furthermore, Susanto said he hopes that the use of village funds would generate concrete measures that have an impact on village communities.
He then called for professional and responsible management of village funds for food security by involving village-owned enterprises as managers.
"The results will be used for the Free Nutritious Meals program, and the profits can also be used to improve the welfare of village communities," he said.
Regarding the supervision of village fund utilization, it is hoped that police will provide guidance to ensure there is no misuse of the funds, he added.
"It is essential for us to ensure that supervision of village funds is really carried out. If we do this, food self-sufficiency will be successfully achieved," he said.
Achieving food self-sufficiency is one of the goals being pursued by the government under President Prabowo.
Earlier, while delivering his inaugural speech on October 20, 2024, Prabowo expressed optimism that Indonesia will achieve food self-sufficiency in four to five years.
