Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The Papua provincial government is urging all village governments in the province to adopt digital administration like Jayapura's Doyo Baru village, the only village to have implemented it so far.

Acting governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, said here on Thursday that digitalization is an indicator of a change in aspects of life, including in villages.

"The digital village program is an effort to present digital transformation that has an impact on all aspects of life," he added.

He said that the main goal of the digital village program is to create villages that are more advanced, independent, and prosperous by utilizing technology as the main driver.

"In this program, various services have been designed to facilitate public services, such as village administration and management of population data," he informed.

He further said that the purpose of the digitalization program is to improve the economy by helping local micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products to be marketed widely through social media platforms.

It is also aimed at helping the education and health sectors by providing access to technology-based information to increase the transparency and accountability of village governments through the use of an integrated information system.

He invited all elements of Papuan society, such as the government, private sector, academics, and communities, to jointly support the sustainability of the digitalization program.

Limbong expressed optimism that the spirit of mutual cooperation will be a joint driver that will help the program respond to challenges as well as bring progress to villages in Papua.

"Smart villages or digital villages are key to opening the door to the nation's progress as a whole," he said.
