Jakarta (ANTARA) - As 2025 began, the Ministry of Tourism organized a welcome ceremony for foreign tourists arriving through Indonesia's three main entry points: Jakarta, Bali, and the Riau Islands.

According to the ministry's press release received here on Wednesday, the ministry held a welcome ceremony for foreign tourists arriving in the Indonesian territory.

The ceremony was held in collaboration with the local government, state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura, InJourney Airports.

Acting Deputy for Marketing at the Tourism Ministry Ni Made Ayu Marthini welcomed the foreign tourists arriving in Bali from Melbourne, Australia, via the national carrier Garuda Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia, with flight number GA719, arrived at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Wednesday at 10:10 a.m. local time, carrying 251 passengers, most of whom were Australian citizens.

According to the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, Marthini cited that the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali reached around 5.3 million between January and October 2024.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists arriving in Bali in October 2024 predominantly came from Australia, totaling 141,395 visitors, followed by India, with 43,537; China, 33,645; France, 28,018; and the United Kingdom, 26,498.

Marthini explained that the proportion of international tourists visiting Bali from Australia during that period rose to 25.25 percent, up from 12.45 percent in the same period the previous year.

In addition, the welcome event for the arriving international tourists was also held at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.

The Ministry of Tourism has set a goal for 2025 to achieve 16 million foreign tourist arrivals and 1.08 billion domestic trips.
