Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has emphasized that the Free Nutritious Meals program is a long-term investment in the future of the nation.

After reviewing the implementation of the program at SDN Pulogebang public elementary school and SMA 11 Jakarta public high school on Tuesday, he said that providing access to nutritious food is not only about meeting basic needs, but also an investment for the future.

A healthy generation is the foundation of a strong nation, he added in an official broadcast from the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Vice President's Secretariat.

He highlighted that the meals program is the government's effort to ensure that children, especially those with health problems, get balanced nutritional intake.

Therefore, the Vice President said he hopes that the program will be expanded to more regions so that more children, pregnant women, toddlers, and breastfeeding mothers benefit from it.

He also emphasized his commitment to continue monitoring the program and ensuring it runs effectively and on target.

The program is currently being implemented in 31 provinces across Indonesia, with a total of 238 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPG) preparing food for the program.

The government aims to serve meals to three million people in the initial phase of the program from January to April 2025.
