The partnership between the two nations was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs and India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi on Saturday.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that the strategic partnership marks a significant step in uniting two of Asia's digital powerhouses to create impactful and relevant innovations for society.
"This collaboration is more than just technological cooperation. It is a joint effort to connect people, transcend geographical boundaries, and drive innovation centered on human needs," Hafid stated.
The MoU was signed during President Prabowo Subianto's state visit to India, where he attended the country's Republic Day celebrations.
The agreement includes the development of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), the creation of public digital infrastructure, and the enhancement of human resource capabilities in the field of information technology.
To ensure the effective implementation of the partnership, the two countries have formed a Joint Working Group tasked with monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and formulating innovative solutions.
The group will convene regularly to ensure the collaboration remains on track and meets its objectives.
Hafid highlighted that the partnership with India is part of Indonesia's broader efforts to position itself as a leading player in global digital transformation.
"As a strategic partner, India has demonstrated its commitment to sharing knowledge and experience in building a robust and impactful digital ecosystem," she said.
"This partnership is key to addressing global challenges while unlocking new opportunities for future generations," Hafid concluded.
