"I met with the CEO of Eramet Group, Christel Bories, to discuss support for critical mineral downstreaming as well as strengthening the supply chain of battery electric vehicles in Indonesia," Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani said in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
He revealed the French company's plan to explore new areas in South Sulawesi and Papua to develop a responsible green electric vehicle (RGEV) project, which would later involve various strategic partners.
According to Roeslani, the collaboration between the government and Eramet has helped increase employment and advance the quality of technology in Indonesia.
"In addition to accelerating the growth of the EV industry in Indonesia, this collaboration contributes to job creation and increased technology transfer," he said.
Earlier, the minister revealed that the total investment realization in the downstreaming sector reached Rp407.8 trillion in 2024.
It accounted for 23.8 percent of the total realization of Rp1,714.2 trillion from all sectors, he informed.
He said that investment realization in mineral downstreaming consisted of Rp153.2 trillion for smelters for nickel, Rp68.5 trillion for copper, Rp21.8 trillion for bauxite, and Rp1.6 trillion for tin.
