"For the spread (of the infrastructure), Java island is still dominant," the ministry's Director General of Electricity Jisman P. Hutajulu stated at a press conference titled "Directorate General of Electricity's Performance Achievements in 2023 and Work Programs in 2024" here on Thursday.
The 2,704 BEV infrastructure units comprise 932 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) and 1,772 public electric vehicle battery swapping stations (SPBKLU).
According to Hutajulu, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is cooperating with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in developing the BEV infrastructure.
"We have asked that from now on, a concept should be created that will lead to a roadmap for how we develop the BEV infrastructure or charging station units, so that they do not just pile up in Jakarta," he remarked.
Hutajulu underlined that if the BEV infrastructure is made available evenly in all regions, then the community would not be hesitant to use BEVs.
One of the forms of efforts to accelerate the BEV ecosystem is the Enhancing Readiness for the Transition to Electric Vehicle in Indonesia Program carried out under the cooperation of the Indonesian government and the UNDP.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has also issued Energy and Mineral Resources Minister's Regulation Number 1 of 2023 on the Provision of Charging Infrastructure for BEVs.
This regulation revises the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister's Regulation Number 13 of 2020 by adding regulations on types of technology, integration of electric vehicle charging applications, and the imposition of electricity tariffs for electric vehicles.
The regulation was updated in an effort to provide convenience and certainty for business entities to build SPKLU and SPBKLU in the country.
