As revealed by the Komdigi Ministry's statement, cited here on Saturday (February 8), Hafid noted that the AIAS aims to bring together world leaders to discuss and determine concrete actions on the governance of artificial intelligence (AI).
"This event also serves as a follow-up to the AI Safety Summit held in the United Kingdom in November 2023 and the AI Seoul Summit that took place in South Korea in May last year," she stated.
Hafid assessed that it is crucial for Indonesia to devise effective regulations on AI to play a bigger role in the global ecosystem of this cutting-edge technology.
Collaboration among the government, industries, academicians, and the public is of the essence to formulate regulations supportive of the use and development of AI, she added.
"That way, Indonesia will be able to fully capitalize on the potential of AI, bringing maximum benefits to the community and related sectors," she stated.

In this regard, Hafid underlined that the Komdigi Ministry had pioneered the AI Regulation Dialogue that aims to discuss the potential impacts of AI across various sectors, such as banking, health, education, and e-commerce.
She underscored that the value of Indonesia's e-commerce sector is projected to hit US$150 billion by 2030, necessitating the country to optimally leverage AI to bring about far-reaching benefits to the citizens.
During her France visit, the minister is scheduled to introduce Indonesia's readiness assessment method during a side event on February 10, at the request of UNESCO.
French President Emmanuel Macron has sent an invitation to President Prabowo to take part in the AIAS, which is expected to draw participation from representatives of over 100 countries, including heads of state, ministries, CEOs, and leaders of international organizations.
The international event began on February 6 with a reception for participants at the Elysee Palace and the High-Level Segment at the Grand Palais.
After a series of discussions, the summit will conclude with a leaders' plenary meeting and closing session on February 11.
