"The Free Health Checks program will be very beneficial to the people, especially those facing difficulties accessing medical services," he stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Syamsurija emphasized that he has supported the medical program since the government, led by President Prabowo Subianto, first introduced it to the parliament.
"This program serves as a manifestation of the state's presence. We believe that Mr. Prabowo Subianto has taken various steps to improve the living standards of the people, including through this program, which aims to enhance health services," he pointed out.
Furthermore, the DPR deputy speaker explained that free health examinations are available to all citizens for 30 days from the date of their birthday.
He then commended the government for the program's mechanism, considering it an effective approach to ensure equitable and convenient access for all.
"Hence, I would like to encourage members of the public to take full advantage of this program to get updates on their health. If a health risk is detected, people can proceed with further examinations," he remarked.
However, the legislator cautioned the government about the potential for foul, self-interested actions by irresponsible individuals or groups that could hinder the program’s optimal implementation.
For that reason, he urged the government to put a stringent oversight system in place, particularly in areas far from government centers.
"Tight supervision on technical work in the field is crucial to ensure that the health check-up program is genuinely beneficial to the people," he concluded.
